Jennifer Sivitz, MD is part of Summit Health’s Pediatric team. Dr. Sivitz specializes in pediatric endocrinology and diabetes care. She is experienced in treating a wide range of hormonal disorders in children and adolescents including growth failure, thyroid, adrenal, and pituitary disorders, precocious and delayed puberty, abnormal menstrual cycles, and bone and calcium disorders. Dr. Sivitz also has expertise in caring for those with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes and has a special interest and board certification in Obesity Medicine.
Dr. Sivitz uses a collaborative approach, placing a strong emphasis on open communication and thorough explanation of the science and thought process behind each decision and course of action. She hopes to provide patients with ample knowledge and a better understanding of their disorder. Her goal is for patients to leave her office feeling confident that there is a plan in place to address their problems.
Prior to joining Summit Health, Dr. Sivitz served as attending Pediatric Endocrinologist and Medical Director of Healthy Future Pediatric and Adolescent Weight Management Program at Hackensack University Medical Center. She is a member of the Pediatric Endocrine Society.
Dr. Sivitz has presented at lectures and workshops and has made media appearances as an advocate for childhood obesity on the YES Network, Verizon Fios news, and CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley. She has been recognized as a Top Doctor by both NJ Family and Inside Jersey Magazine, a Bergen County Top Doctor for pediatric endocrinology, and recognized as one of America's top doctors by Castle Connolly. Her Weight Management program was the 2014 grant recipient for the NY/NJ Snowflake Youth Foundation.
For the past five summers, Dr. Sivitz has volunteered at an overnight camp for children with Type 1 diabetes. She is thankful for the opportunity this experience has given her to immerse herself in the lives and daily challenges of those living with diabetes and truly believes it has made her a better doctor.
When she is not working with patients, Dr. Sivitz enjoys reading historical fiction, battling it out in spin class, admiring sea life via snorkeling, and spending time with her two fabulous children and ten nieces and nephews!
