Before you hire this doctor for your reconstructive breast surgery at the UVA breast care center you need to ask yourself, “Do I feel lucky?” If you are lucky, he will be wonderful and all will go well for you. If you’re not, like me, then you’ll be disfigured and in pain. The reconstruction surgery went well. Then my second echocardiogram came up after my surgery. The echo tech was having a hard time getting the image and pressed really hard on my left lateral side. My breast implant dislocated. Then my story is that of a nightmare post HER2+ breast cancer treatment, instead of a celebration of life. He misdiagnosed me with suddenly getting (after having no pain whatsoever before the echo) Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. He said my breast sagging down was normal and that I didn’t need a surgery to repair my injury. He never said I was injured—what a pro. I’m sp glad he has UVA’s interest at heart more than mine. UVA Pain Management team came to see me and refuted that diagnosis. Dr. Campbell and I agreed on a surgical repair in 2-5 days and I never heard from surgery scheduling. What I did get on the fifth day was a call dismissing completely from UVA plastics. I’m now going to Johns Hopkins where I’m being treated with dignity and respect. The doctor ordered a chest MRI and then said he will do surgical repair.
