Salem Kim, M.D., is a benign hematologist at Miami Cancer Institute. Dr. Kim specializes in treating nonmalignant blood disorders, such as anemia, low blood counts, blood clotting disorders and myelodysplastic syndromes. She is fluent in English and Korean.
Dr. Kim joined Miami Cancer Institute from Hunter Holmes McGuire Veterans Affairs Medical Center, where she served as an attending physician and assistant professor at the VCU Division of Hematology/Oncology. In this role, she gained a passion for teaching medical students and fellows.
Dr. Kim’s research has been featured in several peer-reviewed publications, including the American Journal of Hematology, Seminars in Oncology, Journal of Clinical Pathology and the Archives of Internal Medicine, as well as two textbooks. She was also the recipient of the Jacobi Medical Center Days of the Giants Award for productivity and dedication to patient care. She is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology.
Dr. Kim’s approach to patient care is to build trust with her patients. She believes a strong physician-patient relationship is essential to good outcomes and encourages her patients to come to her with any problems or concerns about their condition.
When she is not treating patients, Dr. Kim enjoys spending time with her husband, traveling and cooking.
