Dr. Pope is board certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons. He attended The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering.
Previous to moving to Stillwater, he developed a thoracic program known for its excellence in patient care given in a lung center model with multidisciplinary thoracic oncology care, nurse navigation, and a lung cancer screening program. His experience and interests are focused around minimally invasive approaches (i.e.., VATS, da Vinci robotics, laparoscopy and navigational bronchoscopy) for the diagnosis and treatment of thoracic oncologic diseases, including lung and esophageal cancer, and also for treating the breadth of benign surgical diseases of the chest.
