Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare: Growing up in Nepal, my mother instilled in me that education was the only way to break away from societal expectations of a woman. In my naïve mind as a child, becoming a doctor was the answer. The idea flourished over the years as my interest in various aspects of medicine grew and the intricacies of the human body continued to amaze me. I feel privileged to have been able to pursue a path that allows me to be part of a woman's journey through adolescence, pregnancy, pre- and post-menopausal years. I am honored to be part of the happy and vulnerable moments of my patients' lives.
