Dr. Stechison was born and educated in Toronto, Canada obtaining his MD, PhD, and neurosurgical training all from the University of Toronto. He began his career in academic practice as Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery, and Neurobiology, Cell Biology and Anatomy at Ohio State University, and then Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at University of Pittsburgh where he served as Neurosurgical Director of the Center for Cranial Base Surgery. Since then he has been in private neurosurgical practice in Atlanta doing both cranial and spinal neurosurgery. He has many athlete patients, and believes strongly in the importance of conservative treatments, fitness, and planning surgeries with return to physical activities as a priority. Dr. Stechison is an accomplished pianist and performer and has released numerous commercial recordings with his wife, a drummer. He is an avid marathon runner, surfer, and watersports enthusiast and a dog lover.
