Sandran Waran MD, is the Chief of Pediatric Neurology at New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. He is associated with New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center and collaborates with their division of childhood epilepsy. Dr. Waran has been in practice for more than 30 years and is board certified in pediatrics, pediatric neurology and clinical neurophysiology.Clinical interest include treating childhood seizures, epilepsy, headaches, vertigo, Tourette syndrome, movement disorders, concussions, syncope and fainting.After graduating from the University Of Colombo Faculty Of Medicine in Sri Lanka, Dr. Waran completed his internship, residency training and fellowship at SUNY Health Center in Brooklyn. Before joining New-York Presbyterian, Dr. Waran was the chairman of pediatric neurology at Morristown Medical Center of the Atlantic Health System in New Jersey. He was responsible for creating a Children’s Epilepsy Unit as the director of Child Neurology of the Saint Claire’s Health System in NJ. He served in the faculty of SUNY Downstate Medical Center, Rutgers Medical School and NY Presbyterian Columbia University. He is board certified in Pediatrics, Neurology with special competence in Child Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology. He is a fellow of several prestigious organizations including American Academy of Neurology and the American Epilepsy Society. Active in research, Dr. Waran has published numerous scholarly articles on the subjects of seizures and genetic disorders in medical journals such as Pediatric Neurology, Anesthesia, Analgesia and Clinical Lessons in Epilepsy.
