Piedmont Athens Regional is one of northeast Georgia’s largest not-for-profit hospitals. The 359-bed, acute care hospital joined the Piedmont family in 2016 and features a regional Level II trauma center and Level III neonatal ICU. As the second largest employer in the region, Piedmont Athens Regional contributes more than $800 million dollars annually to the economy. Founded by physicians in 1919, the hospital has garnered national acclaim in patient experience, comprehensive cardiac care including open heart and thoracic surgery, orthopedics, neurosciences, minimally invasive surgeries, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, oncology and gastroenterology.
