Orthopedic surgery is an unbelievably satisfying career. The patients my team takes care of are singularly focused on getting better. Through a variety of treatments, which can include medications, injections, physical therapy or surgery, every patient has an excellent chance of recovery. It’s incredibly rewarding to see patients getting better because of an action plan I’ve initiated.
As an orthopedic surgeon for St. Luke’s University Health Network, I treat a variety of musculoskeletal conditions, but specialize in joint replacement and trauma. Of all of the patients I have cared for, one small boy stands out in my memory. He and his family were immigrants who had only a rudimentary understanding of English.
