Geetha Nampiaparampil, M.D., is a member of the cancer support services team at Miami Cancer Institute, a part of Baptist Health South Florida. She specializes in psychosomatic medicine, also known as consultation-liaison psychiatry and the newest board-certified subspecialty in psychiatry. Dr. Nampiaparampil focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric disorders in complex medically ill patients. Working collaboratively with a patient’s care team, she addresses the psychological symptoms a patient may experience following a cancer diagnosis and through long-term survivorship. Dr. Nampiaparampil received her medical degree from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, and completed psychiatry residencies at Saint Vincent’s Hospital-Manhattan/New York Medical College and St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital/Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons, both in New York. She also completed a psychosomatic medicine fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center/New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. Dr. Nampiaparampil has worked as an attending psychiatrist at JFK Medical Center in Atlantis, Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn and Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. She also served as assistant professor of psychiatry at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. She is Board-certified in psychiatry and psychosomatic medicine and has published numerous articles relating to her specialty in peer-reviewed journals and text books.
