Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare: Honestly, it was a calling. While I had fully intended to go into another career path (aviation), my goals changed suddenly after hearing a surgeon speak about his work overseas treating a very poor/underserved population. After this talk, I somehow knew that I should become a physician despite having no personal contact with the medical field. This calling has never left me. This profession has allowed me to personally connect with my patients and families, helping them through a variety of health issues. It has been a blessing to have patients call me their physician.
