Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare: I decided to become a doctor because it was a way to combine my love of people and my love of science. I also enjoy medicine because it is a career that constantly pushes me to improve, both personally and intellectually. I feel grateful that I can help my patients in times of trouble, and that I can share what I know with my patients, students, and residents. What I want my patients to know about me: I like working with patients as they manage multiple complex diseases, especially older adults who may be dealing with several serious diseases simultaneously. I also work with patients facing addiction, especially to alcohol, tobacco, and opioids.
