Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare: I chose a career in medicine because it allows me to have a positive impact in the lives of my patients. I have always been interested in science and medicine, even at a young age. I studied biology in college, then worked for the Jesuit Volunteer Corps doing hospice work prior to PA school. I also have family members working in medicine, which played a role in my interest as well. The ability to help someone in need and to play even a small role in their healing process is a tremendous reward that is difficult to quantify.
