I'm writing this review because I hope no one else has to experience what I experienced here. Two days before Thanksgiving my 6 year old frenchie Stitch suffered a heart attack after a brachial surgery at my vet's office. My vet administered CPR and brought him back and we spent the hours there until closing time watching him slowly regain some mobility and try to stand up. He never quite got there, and since my vet is not a 24 hour facility they recommended I move him to MASH for overnight care.
Upon arrival they took Stitch into the back and moved me into a room to wait for a vet. The first vet came in and said she thought I should expect to have him there until the following evening. She left the room and I never saw her again. 10 minutes after she left a Doctor's Assistant, Amanda came in the room with a bill for 2-3 days' care totaling $8000. I said I was told I'd be quoted for 1 day and would only be willing to pay 1 days's worst until we knew more. As she was leaving the room she said that she just gone through this with her frenchie a couple months' prior. I said I was sorry to hear and asked how he was doing. She said he died and then left the room. I can't tell you how terrifying it was to have a professional tell me that her frenchie had just died from the same thing as I am sitting in a room by myself trying to process what was going on and was asking to see him. It felt like bad business with a lack of empathy.

They would only let me see him for 15 minutes at a time. Every single person I spoke with had a different prognosis for him and whether or not he would recover. While in the waiting room, a celebrity walked in with his dog and was in and out in 30 minutes without being charged. The receptionists were all over it and had barely bothered to look up at me while I sat in the lobby crying.

A couple of hours after arriving I was called into the back to find Stitch having another heart attack and an attendant administering compressions. I was asked what I wanted to do. I was so overwhelmed and bent down to tell Stitch that if he wanted to stay and fight I would keep him here as long as he needed, but if it was his time to go that it was okay and he could go. As I was saying this an attendant with pink and purple streaks in her hair bent down and said "he can't hear you he's brain dead". I don't know what possessed her to say this but it was so uncalled for and so unsympathetic.

Ultimately I had to put him down. Moments after he was gone, Amanda came in with a cremation paper to sign. The mood in the room was that this happens all the time and they needed to get me to sign paperwork and get out of there so they could move onto the next patient. She said it was for a home delivery service and they would deliver the ashes in 2 weeks. What she neglected to tell me was that the company offered eco-friendly cremation options AND I could have also ordered a digital scan of his nose print. But I didn't find this out until two weeks later when I had to track down the cremation company to find out where his ashes were. When I emailed them they said the hospital never sent them my email address and they had been wondering how to send me updates. I am still waiting for his ashes.

I'm not a vet so I can't say what happened to Stitch that night. This review is meant to be a critique of the staff's inability to communicate or be decent, their insane pricing, and their horrendous organization. Stitch was at MASH for a total of 5 hours. Roughly the same amount of time he was recovering at my vet, Laurel Pet Hospital, beforehand. Laurel Pet Hospital charged me about $900 for those 5 hours. MASH charged me $2400. All I want is the guarantee that this treatment will never happen to anyone else who goes there. I tried calling management about it and it took them two and a half days to get back to me and I didn't get so much as an apology. I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone. I am so hurt by the way I was treated and that Stitch had to spend his last hours on earth there. They didn't give a damn about me or my dog.
