Dr Cusnir completed his Medical School at the Universidad Javeriana in Bogota Colombia. He became teaching assistant during his 1st year of medical school and participated in the International Student Exchange program at Brown University where he completed part of his medical school. He completed his internship and residence at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn New York wheere he was given the award of Excellence for outstanding intern in 1997. Dr. Cusnir became Chief Medical Resident and Chairman Elect of the Residence Advisory Council from 1999 to 2000. Immediately after, he followed with a subspecialty in cardiology as well as interventional cardiology, publishing studies on the subject of cardiopulmonary resuscitation for in-hospital cardiac arrest. He served as the Catheterization Committee Chairman and Medical Director at Florida Medical Center until 2015. Dr. Cusnir has performed more than 1500 cardiovascular interventions, 200 acute coronary revascularizations, at least 6000 coronary angiograms, 500 peripheral angiograms, and more than 100 peripheral interventions including carotid stenting and atrial septal defect closure. He is also proficient in the use of hemodynamic support devices including Impella and Cardiohelp.
