About
Dr. Beier attended medical school at the University of Rochester School of Medicine where she received the Robert J. Haggerty Pediatrics Prize for "exceptional personal qualities, scholarship and concern for the care of all children" and the Bruce Collier Prize for "Compassionate Care and Academic Achievement in Medicine"; did her internship at New York University/Bellevue, Pediatric residency at UMDNJ/Robert Wood Johnson, and Adolescent Medicine Fellowship at Albert Einstein School of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center, and worked much of her career in the Bronx. She wrote and was awarded Youth Development grants with youth from the AAP, NYCHOH&MH, NYSDOH, and NYSDOL. For her "Superb Efforts in the Bronx", she was awarded an Outstanding Citizen citation the New York City Council. Dr. Beier is especially interested mental health issues and took the NYS OMH CAP PC/Project TEACH course. For her work in providing adolescent-friendly reproductive health care, she was awarded the "2014 Qualifying Teens in NYC Preferred Referral Site for Best Practices in Sexual and Reproductive Health Care for Adolescents" by the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. In 2012, Dr. Beier was chosen to be the first non-State Co-Chair of the New York State Youth Development Team, which is made up of all State Agencies and private youth organizations and institutions across the state, and reports to the Governor's Council for Children and Families.
Dr. Beier loves her work with Staten Island youth in the High Schools. She teaches medical students and Pediatric residents to enjoy and connect with adolescents, ensuring their health and well-being, build on their strengths, find their voice, and succeed in school and life.

Sharon Rose Beier MD, FAAP, is board certified in Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine. Dr. Beier is committed to team-based, integrative care and has developed expertise with special populations, including youth with disabilities, with mental health problems, LGBTQ youth, those in juvenile justice, young men's health, and reproductive health.
