Penn Home is a non profit personal care retirement residence located in the Fishtown/Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia. Established in 1848 as the Penn Asylum for Indigent Widows and Single Women, the Home continues its charitable heritage today by offering an affordable option in age-appropriate housing and personal care to both men and women ages 60 and older.
Throughout 166 years of operation, our mission endures: to provide a quality living environment that serves the physical, mental and spiritual needs of seniors surviving on limited resources. Residents’ physical needs are overseen by a full time Registered Nurse and a staff of Certified Nursing Assistants/Medication Technicians. Mental needs are met through daily activities such as games, entertainment and social events managed by our Activities Coordinator. And spiritual needs are tended to through visiting clergy and weekly religious services that are hosted in the Home’s on-site chapel.
In 2013, Philadelphia Magazine named “Fishtown/Kensington” as one of the city’s hottest neighborhoods due to its “city feel, without the city price.” There are plenty of affordable options to choose from when it comes to leisure, entertainment and dining.
