So I've used Massapequa Hospital for Animals for many years .
I've spent a lot of money with them .
I've recommended tons of people to them since I'm a local pet sitter and my 250 clients always ask my opinion when they have issues with their pets .
So in the last 2 months my 10 year old cat Harry has had issues .
Losing weight , not eating well .
I brought him in and saw Dr . Fish.
He told me my cat needed dental work ASAP .
That was the reason for his issues .
So of course do it .
$1,200.00 dollars and within a few days he was still having issues .
Not eating , pawing at his mouth .
In pain .
I call daily to let the doctors know that something was wrong .
Only to have Dr Joi P tell me it wasn't his teeth.
Knowing the veterinary field because I've worked it for many years I ask them to run tests.
Which they fought but finally did .
After 3 weeks of my poor Harry not eating and loosing a lot of weight.
I told them he needs to come back and have his mouth checked .
Well surprise .
His mouth was like raw meat .
He had dental issues even after this original dental.
So now Dr Joi said he has a mouth infection and has to have most of his teeth removed .
I asked her if this would help him and she said yes .
So off to his second procedure in 3 weeks .
Under anesthesia again .
Not heathy for a 10 year old cat who has been not eating and already in a state of his immune system already compromised.
More surgery to remove almost all his teeth.
I asked her if the teeth she left should be removed also.
She told me no .
A few days and no change in his health .
Calls and more calls and nothing done .
Pain medication given but not working .
I was told it's not his mouth.
My poor cat still in pain and nothing done by Massapequa Hospital for Animals .
Finally I went to a board certified veterinary dentist .
Dr Carmichael who saw him and told me he had to remove all his remaining teeth .
Another round of anesthesia and the risk of him not waking up after the procedure .
Well surprise Dr Carmichael found 15 root and tooth pieces left in his mouth.
I have it all documented.
Another fortune to remove what Massapequa Hospital left inside his mouth.
Which had been causing more pain and suffering for my poor Harry.
15 pieces .
They took 4 sets of X-rays .
They never saw any thing .
Maybe they need a radiologist on staff to read their x rays .
When I found out that they did not do the right thing for my cat I called and spoke to Dr Fish one of the owners .
He offered me a tiny percentage of what my costs had been to make this go away.
Sorry but my cats health is more important to me and to be honest they should have paid and reimbursed me for every cent I paid them since they did not do what I had paused them for and could have killed my cat .
Harry has a long recovery and many more vet bills in the future .
All because of Massapequa Hospital for Animals and the vets working there .
I will make sure everyone knows about the care their pets get there .
This is Harry before and after .
Not the same handsome healthy cat at all .
Plus the best was they have spoken to me a few times and not once have they asked how my cat Harry is doing now .
Never an apology for almost killing my cat.
Stay away from this place .
