Dr. Wente is a graduate of Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and completed his orthopedic surgical residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Following residency he completed an accredited sports medicine fellowship at the Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Clinic of Kansas City and the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
After being heavily involved in high school athletics, Dr. Wente went on to play collegiate basketball at Illinois Wesleyan University where he helped lead the team to an NCAA Division III Final Four appearance. While in Arkansas he helped care for collegiate athletes at both the University of Arkansas and the University of Arkansas-Little Rock. During his time as a sports medicine fellow he served as Assistant Team Physician for the NFL Kansas City Chiefs as well as treated numerous other area high school, collegiate and professional athletes.
Dr. Wente has a deep appreciation for the role sports plays throughout our lives. He continues to remain active in the outdoors and enjoys golf, hiking, snow skiing and water skiing. His practice emphasis lies in the treatment of sports-related injuries of all ages and he is committed to helping patients achieve a safe and rapid return to the activities they love. Clinical interests include knee, shoulder and hip arthroscopy, ligament reconstruction, cartilage repair and transplantation. Dr. Wente also performs fracture care as well as shoulder and knee replacement surgery. Dr. Wente has publications on the anterior cruciate ligament, posterior cruciate ligament and specialized robotic testing of knee injuries.
