Digital X-rays
Igor Ochev, DDS
X-rays are essential, preventative, diagnostic tools that provide valuable information not visible during your regular exam.
We use this information to safely and accurately detect hidden abnormalities and to complete an accurate treatment plan. Without X-rays, problem areas may go undetected.
X-rays may reveal: abscesses or cysts, bone loss, cancerous and non-cancerous tumors, decay between your teeth, developmental abnormalities, poor tooth and root positions, problems inside a tooth or below the gum line, detecting and treating problems at an early stage can save you time, money, unnecessary discomfort, and your teeth.
ARE X-RAYS SAFE?
In addition, our digital X-ray imaging system is environmentally friendly (no more film or chemicals) which means less waiting time, shorter appointments, involved co-diagnosis, and a better understanding of treatment.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD X-RAYS BE TAKEN?
The need for X-rays depends on your individual needs. Our recommendation is based on your medical and dental history, dental exam, signs and symptoms, age, and risk for disease.
For new patients, we recommend a full series of X-rays which is usually good for three to five years. We recommend bite-wing X-rays (X-rays of the top and bottom teeth biting together) once or twice a year at check-up visits to detect new problems.
