Greetings and thank you for visiting this site. I assume that if you are reading this, your relationship is is in a high level of distress. I sincerely hope you find help soon because relationship pain is extremely devastating. It can bankrupt you, demolish innocents in the family, and even lead to suicide. I sincerely believe that you and your partner CAN do better. Whereas quick fix techniques or less destructive communication behavior can help temporarily, only getting to the emotional base in your relationship can offer long-term hope and create an atmosphere of safety. I believe I can help you discover the destructive patterns that are tearing you apart and rebuild a new relationship. If you come to see me, here are some of the principles that will be in place:
1. Emotional intelligence should not be ignored. Don't ignore your gut feelings. There is wisdom in emotions and all emotions make sense in context. All true learning is emotional!
2. Sessions will be safe and everyone will be respected. No one will be asked to participate in anything beyond their comfort zone.
3. The relationship is the patient and the negative cycles are the enemies. There will be no blame placed on a particular person for difficulties in the relationship.
4. To know and to trust is the key! To understand each other and to trust each other is the ultimate goal.
5. All problems (money, in-laws, infidelity, parenting, etc.) become manageable when negative emotional tension is gone and the couple can dialogue in a safe and trusting manner.
If your relationship is in danger, I offer you three options.
1. Give me call (423-614-6903) and we will discuss setting up a couples appointment in Cleveland or Chattanooga.
2. If your spouse/partner will not come, I am willing to work with you by phone using a coaching model.
3. If you don't have the time or resources for either, I encourage you to read the following books: "Hold Me Tight" by Dr. Sue Johnson and "The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work" by Dr. John Gottman. These two books, written for the public, represent the most powerful approaches to relationship repair in our time.
I wish you well! Dr. Eddie Stone
