Christine Hammond
Chris is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern with over fifteen years of experience in ministry helping to preserve marriages, support families, encourage adults and care for children. Chris has been married to her husband Michael for fifteen years and has lived in the Orlando area for almost twenty years. They have three children.
Chris calling is to encourage you to become the person God created you to be, to leave behind the baggage of life, and to inspire you to achieve your dreams. She knows God has a unique purpose for your life and wants to see you reach your full potential.
She specializes in helping people cope with personality disorders, addictions, ADD/ADHD, OCD, co-dependency, developmental disorders, anxiety disorders, anger, stress, depression, parenting, and marriage issues.
As a former small business owner, commercial banker, and stockbroker, Chris understands how hard it is to managing work and family. Chris experience with both failure and success in business gives her the experience to coach and mentor others. Her direct approach helps people progress quickly through the counseling process and saves them time and money.
Chris experience teaching Bible classes to children, teenagers, and adults brings a Biblical approach to her counseling. She firmly believes her ministry is to be a rebuilder of walls and a restorer of homes (Isaiah 58:5b). She helps people build safe boundaries and a healthy family unit so they can achieve their God-given potential. She is also qualified to conduct and evaluate statistical testing and research.
Chris teaching experience with middle and high school students gives her the experience needed to relate to children and teenagers. To better understand the unique pressures kids feel she uses a variety of methods including play therapy, sand-tray therapy, and art therapy. Her training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy gives her the knowledge to help children and teenagers cope with physical, mental, or emotional trauma. She believes children and teenagers achieve the best results from therapy by using an integral approach involving the entire family. Chris teaches Psychology at Foundation Academy of Winter Garden, where she taught both Psychology and Bible classes to middle and high school students for the past five years.
As an experienced teacher and group facilitator, Chris has led several group classes on anger management, developing boundaries, dealing with ADD/ADHD, improving marriages, and womens intimacy issues. She has also served as a marriage mentor and co-teacher of the Preparation for Marriage class for 10 years at First Baptist Church of Orlando. Chris wrote the curriculum for several of the classes she has taught and is able to customize group sessions to meet the needs of her clients.
