As a patient, I really want this doctor to recommend.

Dr. Atkinson has one of the best bedside manners I have yet to experience. He is very observant, makes good suggestions and works as a partner with me in my health decisions. He treats me with respect and clearly cares deeply about his patients. I have had medical professionals tell me what an exceptional doctor he is, and how much they respect him for his intuition, knowledge and observations. I would recommend him for patients of any age and those that want more involvement in their health care. He is open to Alternative Therapies, which is a must for me due to my knowledge of nutrition research.

I have been seeing Dr. Atkinson as my primary care physician, and he discovered and has helped me with a mood disorder, which no other doctor picked up on. Even medical professionals in the mental health industry didn't pick up on it due to its mild severity. I can now have more accurate medical attention thanks to his keen eye.

Their prices were very fair. The level of care you get for the price is outstanding. They always have an immediate answer for me when I call with a question. They would never try to get me to make an appointment unless I really needed one. They are an absolute expert in the field. I would never feel unsafe or apprehensive in their care.

Seems to be a highly competent doctor and makes referrals when appropriate generally. My understanding is that he did not graduate from residency very long ago and he does seem overconfident which is definitely a turnoff in a primary care physician.
The staff at Aptos is nice, but there seems to be a huge turnover rate in staff, including physicians, which is concerning. I don't really have a problem only having seen Dr. Atkinson once and will continue with him as my PCP. Some of my friends, however, ended up seeing him on an emergency basis when their PCP was overbooked more than a few times, and felt quite "blown off" by him; they also felt that their PCP's were not informed adequately about the visit for some reason. Other friends were impressed though.
As I mentioned, Dr. Atkinson is fine as a primary care physician in my view, but I don't know if I'll continue my care at Aptos long term due to the concerns my friends and other in the community have raised about that clinic.
