Dr. Wint is at the Hand Center of Western Massachusetts in Springfield, MA in the field of Hand Surgery. He has been with the Hand Center since 1992.

He is Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and has a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand.

Dr. Wint attended the University of Pennsylvania, graduating with a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and a minor in English. His medical education, completed in 1986 was at Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons. After completing his medical school education at P & S, Dr. Wint interned in general surgery for one year and completed a residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at UMDNJ - Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey. His orthopedic training included electives at Children's Hospital in Philadelphia and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NYC. Following his Chief Residency year he spent one year as a fellow in Hand Surgery and Musculoskeletal Microsurgery at the University at Buffalo School of Medicine. There his fellowship was undertaken with physicians working at the Hand Center or Western New York. Dr. Wint came to Springfield in 1992. He worked with hand surgeon Dr. Erik Rosenthal for nine years, initially as part of Pavilion Hand Surgeons and later with The Hand Center.

Dr. Wint is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Boston University School of Medicine and a Clinical Instructor of Orthopedic Surgery at Tufts University School of Medicine. He is licensed in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey and New York.

Dr. Wint is a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and in the past served on the patient and public education committee. Recently he was named to the Public Awareness Committee and to the Public Education Committee. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and even more information is available is available on his AAOS web page. He is also a member of the New England Hand Society. As a member of the American Medical Society, the Massachusetts Medical Society and the Hampden District Medical Society, he served as a delegate to the Massachusetts Medical Society for several years. Previously he was on the executive committee of the Hampden District. For the past several years Dr. Wint had also participated in the Lending A Hand program sponsored by the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. He is a member of ISSPORTH, the International Society for Sport Traumatology of the Hand an organization whose mission is focused upon sports specific injuries of the hand and wrist.

Dr. Wint Has received recogntion for several years now from patient reviewed websites. In 2010 and 2011 He recieved a patients choice award and compassionate doctor award. He had received the patietn's choice awards for several years prior.

He is currently on the full time staff at Baystate Medical Center. At Baystate, Dr. Wint participated in ER call as a member of the Hand Service for fifteen years, giving him extensive experience with trauma and acute care and late reconstruction of hand and upper extremity injuries. At Shriner's Hospital in Springfield he is on the attending staff caring for children of all ages. At Shriner's he participates in hand clinics, locally as well as overseas, and is a lecturer in a series of twice monthly conferences on "Congenital and Pediatric Hand and Upper Extremity Problems." Dr. Wint is involved in an online forum for families of children with Congenital Hand and Upper Extremity Differences called limbdifferences.org

Dr. Wint also has privileges at Mary Lane Hospital in Ware, where the Hand Center has a part time satellite office as well as Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton and Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Massachusetts. He does much of his outpatient surgery at The Pioneer Valley Surgicenter which is directly below the Hand Center offices in Springfield. Dr. Wint was also the medical director for Novacare Rehabilitation in Springfield for many years.

Dr. Wint cares for all topics related to the Hand and Upper extremity. He is especially interested in Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, including Endoscopic carpal tunnel release, as well as Peripheral Nerve Compression, Hand Fractures and Wrist Fractures, and Tendon Injuries. His strong interest in Workers Compensation care has been demonstrated in his presentations to the Case Management Society of New England. Dr. Wint also offers selected patients needle aponeurotomy for Dupuytren's Disease and as a hand surgeon in Western Massachusetts with a wealth of experience treating Dupuytren’s disease is excited to offer this method of treatment. His practice also involves Post Traumatic Reconstruction as well as Congenital Hand Differences. Services Dr. Wint has presented at national meetings with topics ranging from endoscopic carpal tunnel release to congenital hand problems. HIs poster presentation at the American Academy of Orthopedic of Surgeons entitled "Endoscopic Carpal Tunnel Release avoiding pitfalls and complications" was used by the manufacturer of the Endoscopic Carpal Tunnel Surgery device for educational talks throughout North America. He has written several articles published locally and appeared on local news and radio and for over twenty years has been promoting hand safety in our community including Doctors on Call, Safe Kids of Western Massachusetts and The Safety Council of Western Massachusetts . He is responsible for efforts towards reducing snow blower injuries, pumpkin cutting injuries and industrial hand injuries among others. Some of his campaigns to reduce injuries to the hand in the home and at work have received national exposure and international recognition. He has authored a poster exhibit titled "Power Saw Injuries of the Hand" at the annual meeting of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand in Seattle, WA. He is devoted to promoting ongoing safety and the prevention of hand injuries in our community.

SInce 2008 Dr. Wint has had a series of Hand Surgery Podcasts to better explain the role of surgery to his patients. His most popular podcast deals with Endoscopic Carpal Tunnel Release Surgery. Additional podcasts discuss Dupuytren's Disease, especially Needle Aponeurotomy and Xiaflex as well as a recent release of an excerpt of Dr, Wint being interviewed about wrist injury on FAN 590 Toronto. These Hand Surgery Podcasts are also available in ITUNES.Dr. Wint has also released a copy of his Endoscopic Carpal Tunnel Release Surgery Handout.

Finally, Dr. Wint is also the creator and publisher of HandFedApps with several iphone (iOS) and Android marktplace apps regarding the latest peer reviewed literature in Hand Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. These applications are used by physicians,PAs, health care providers and trainers throughout the world in the field of bone, tendon and soft tissue problems to read peer reviewed literature. He has also published an app in iOS called HandMD for his patients with iphones or iPads.
