Richard Travis continuously called and badgered me to come in for appointments not because he sincerely thought I needed his help but simply just to keep a steady paycheck rolling in for himself. I felt I only needed to come in occasionally by myself or once in a while with a family member but he would call or text me every week. This ultimately resulted in the most despicable action I've ever seen any kind of a counselor or doctor do. I'd had an appointment set up for a certain day but wound up needing to cancel it, which I did with more than 24 hours notice by leaving him a message and saying I didn't know when I could come in next and would just call when I could and needed to. He called back and left a message saying he could schedule me for an appointment for the same time and day the next week and asked me to call him back to let him know if that worked. It didn't for me so I ignored the message for the time being. 6 days later he calls my house at 10:30 PM and leaves a message saying he "hadn't heard back from me about our appointment the next day and wanted to know if I was still coming in". Rather shocked and a bit outraged, I called back early in the morning and left him a message saying there was no appointment since I hadn't asked for nor confirmed it at all. He then calls back and leaves me the most asinine, long-winded and nonsensical message with an utterly moronic train of reasoning as to why he felt we did have an appointment and ultimately concluded with that since I "hadn't given 24 hours notice of cancelation he would have to charge me"!!!!!!!!!! This guy is completely despicable and a total swindler!!!!!! As for the appointments, it was a very curious observation to notice that he had a big clock placed right next to the couch that his eyes frequently darted towards while I was speaking... shows the true extent of his "care" and real modus operandi. AVOID!!!!!
I was really not satisfied with my time spent here. It was a total waste of my time and energy. I was there to attempt to save my marriage, but we left in a condition that was unimproved at best. The divorce started soon after. I can't say I would recommend getting counseling here based on my experience. The visit felt more like an attack on me, as if the therapist "knew my kind", when he really had no idea who I was. In one hour he had labeled me as "a sexual dysfunctional" and a "16 year-old trapped in a 50 year-old's body", where my soon to be ex-wife was merely someone who found it hard to express her feelings. Frankly, I expected a licensed, professional therapist to be a little less judgmental during a first hour visit at least. Does anyone ever go to a second appointment with this guy? Truly, I couldn't see anyone being any more judgmental than Mr. Travis was during our visit, at least towards me. If he isn't the worldly worst, he's the most astute observer on the planet.
