About
DioGuardi, Dr. Richard J., Ph.D.
Welcome to the first important step in enhancing your well-being and reaching your potential! As a clinical psychologist licensed in New York, I offer comprehensive psychological services for children, adolescents, and adults. I am committed to helping people struggling with a variety of individual, family, and relationship difficulties. Because an individual's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected, my approach involves collaboratively helping clients achieve healthy change in all three areas. I also firmly believe that a warm, accepting, and non-judgmental approach is critical for therapeutic success. In my practice, evaluations, psychological testing, and treatments are provided in a confidential and comfortable environment. I am also a certified school psychologist, providing psychological and psychoeducational testing, as well as consultation with schools.
Some of my specialty areas include: childhood disruptive behavior disorders (including ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and Conduct Disorder), depression, anxiety, phobias, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), stress and anger management, social skills and assertiveness training, parent training, behavior modification, and psychoeducational testing.
I currently am an active member of the New York State Psychological Association (NYSPA), serving on the NYSPA Council and Foundation. I am also a member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Westchester County Psychological Association (WCPA). In the past 5 years, I have been featured in The Journal News, Westchester Magazine, Hudson Valley Magazine, and News12 Westchester, discussing a variety of topics, such as cyberbullying, helping children cope in the aftermath of tragedies (school shootings, suicides, etc.), and assertiveness training.
Regarding educational background and training, I received his doctorate and master's degree in clinical psychology from St. John's University and his Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Cornell University. He completed his clinical internship at the Institute of Living / Hartford Hospital and Connecticut Children's Medical Center.
