If I could give a Negative 10 star review, I would. My experience at North Kitsap Veterinary Clinic was beyond appalling. I brought my kitten/cat in for a spaying procedure and they told me she would need to stay the night. I was shocked to learn that no staff would be present overnight and that they just close up and go home. I have had bad experiences in the past with cats having bad reactions after coming off of anaesthetic and I felt uncomfortable that there would be no one there if anything happened. I have veterinary experience, have owned and worked with animals all my life so I asked the receptionist if I could just pick her up before they close that evening so I could watch her throughout the night. She was extremely snotty and rude and told me I should ask the vet. The next morning at 9am I went to drop her off. I spoke to both the receptionist and the vet. I told them my concerns. I explained to them that I have a farm, boarding facilities, a cosy safe crate at home ready for her and have the ability to keep her safe, calm and watched throughout the night. She gave me a thumbs up, said it sounded great and informed me that the only reason they like to keep them overnight is if people cannot offer them that care in the following 24 hours. I thanked them. The receptionist took all of her vaccine information and I left my cat in their care. I got told to ring them at 4pm that evening and to come and pick her up after that. 3:45 comes around and I call the clinic asking how it went and asking If I could come and pick my kitten up. She responded. "No, you can come and get her in the morning.” Despite being assured that morning I could take her home. Which led me to question why.. I was told that I was never informed that I could take my cat home, that I am lying, that she doesn't have time to keep talking to me and my issues, and worst of all and I quote "Well we have your cat here, you cannot come and get her until the morning so it looks like there is nothing you can do about it" and HUNG UP ON ME! Mortified, I get in my car and drive to the clinic to see what the hell is going on. All of the staff continue to display utter disrespect and hostility towards me. All refusing to talk to me. An old lady who I had never spoken to before took me into a room and told me that everything I was saying was false, that this was her clinic and she could do what the hell she wanted and informed me that they were keeping my cat unless I paid them in cash?? Extremely shady and unethical behavior. She would not let me speak, proceeded to tell me she was done listening to me and walked away. I proceeded to tell them I just want to pay right now (using their card machine which I had used before) and pick up my cat. She wouldn't allow it. She said I would not be getting my cat back. At this point I am LIVID, worried about my cat and why this is happening and in complete disbelief. I decided my only option was to call the police. At this point my husband has shown up to help me. They tried kicking me out so they could close and go home. When the police showed up we explained to him everything that had happened and he told us he had taken one of their pets there once and had the worst experience and that they were horrible to him. When the police intervened, they begrudgingly released my cat, who was of course traumatized, not to mention starving, and worse of all covered in her own waste! I have NEVER experienced anything like this in my life and NEVER want it to happen to anyone else. DO NOT use this clinic. Stay away from this establishment at all costs; their cheap prices are not worth the anguish and mistreatment they subject on to their customers and patients. I'm just glad to have my cat back.
North Kitsap Veterinary Clinic needs to shut down. The vet and staff are obviously not equipped to handle much else than a healthy pet. Will they look at your pet? Yes. Will they tell you your pet is cute. Yes. Shortly before they tell you it has bone cancer without an x-ray, which they cannot provide. Will they take its temperature to check for infections instead. No. I took my dog to another vet the next day and they didn't need an x-ray to see he had an infection. The other vet had the ability to do x-rays but found them unnecessary. Bone cancer was never mentioned as a possibility. They prescribed and provided medicine that same moment. My dog was better the next morning.
North Kitsap Veterinary Clinic’s vet refused to consider anything besides a dire diagnosis and sent us away without proper care. I asked for her to reconsider treating the dog for an infection. I asked, why they failed to inform me of their inability to do x-rays when I made the appt. The receptionist accused me (in a huff) of not telling them that my dog was limping. That I only mentioned he was chewing on his paws. Which is ridiculous because why make an appt at a new vet with urgency for that. The receptionist is in need of training. Because telling the truth is something they cannot provide either. Important to note: they have no x-ray facilities and they don't take a dog's temperature to troubleshoot issues. Instead they readily diagnose bone cancer and when you doubt them they get testy and send you away. Steer clear.
