I was quite disappointed with my experience with Pamela Fox. She made no attempt to build rapport with me at the first session. Even though we were dealing with a current issue she continued to want to focus on the past, my childhood, etc. without really listening to the issue at hand. It seemed as though she missed the boat entirely; she made assumptions and drew conclusions from the information I gave her that were completely inaccurate. I very much prefer more of a Rogerian approach, and she appeared to be geared toward Freudian theory, which I do not believe is relevant in all cases. We then started seeing Mike Keady and it has been a WORLD of difference!!! So important to find a therapist who actually listens, instead of going about with his or her own agenda, assumptions, and ideas. Grateful for the experience as I learned what definitely does not work for me, and grateful to find a person (Mike) that truly helped to change my life- he listened to us with non-judgmental acceptance, HEARD what we were saying and worked from there; amazing results. Of course, different therapists work for different people. If you do not feel your past/childhood/upbringing is relevant and prefer a more client centered approach, do not call Pamela Fox.
