Speckmann was an absolute quack! My parents sent me to this woman when I was 11-13 years old. I had depression, PTSD and had undiagnosed Asperger's disorder. She never diagnosed any of these issues, though they were all present. She instead diagnosed me with ADHD, a disorder I've never had, and I was forced to take Ritalin, which did not help, destroyed my appetite and kept me from sleeping - particularly detrimental to a kid in middle school! On top of that, my parents later informed me that Speckmann for some reason thought borderline personality disorder was an appropriate diagnosis to give a 12 year old child, even though anyone who knows about how adolescents develop would be aware that this would mean the vast majority of kids that age have BPD. Speckmann's insistence on these inappropriate diagnoses damaged my ability to pursue proper mental health treatment for years. It seems she is no longer alive now, but in case anyone similar to her has taken over her practice, I want people to know they should be wary.
