I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPCA) and Nationally Certified Counselor currently practicing in Asheville, NC. I received my MS in community counseling at Western Carolina University and my BA in psychology from Drew University in Madison, NJ. I also studied sociology, women's studies, and literature at Oxford University in Oxford, England. 12 years experience has led me from research at Georgetown University to counseling at-risk youth at a therapeutic wilderness program, and a number of years in Asheville's local agencies with both adults and children.
I've worked with a number of issues: trauma, grief/loss, anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, addictions, abuse, adolescent diagnoses, career, parenting, divorce related parenting, relationships, wellness coaching, personal empowerment, life purpose, and spirituality. In addition to counseling, I created and facilitate other nature based therapeutic programs.
I am currently helping people who are struggling to overcome major life issues or need help processing something that keeps showing up and getting in the way (old trauma, grief, existential issues, etc). I am strongly rooted in a wellness approach (versus over diagnosing), which is rewarding and results oriented!
