I went to Duncan Chiropractic group for free introductory consultation and received a bill for it two months later. The fee is insignificant; the misleading and deceitful method of it is unacceptable. Is an unhappy customer really worth $15?
I called ahead to make an appointment and they confirmed on the phone that their initial consultations were free of charge. I found this very helpful as I knew very little about chiropractic care, but it had been recommended to me and I really did not know what to expect.
I saw the chiropractor and was given a short ultrasound treatment. Two months later I received a bill for $15 for the ultrasound treatment. I called the office thinking it was a mistake. I explained to the staff that it was part of an initial consultation and was told I'd hear back. I did not and so assumed the fee had been waived.
Another month passed and I received a call saying my bill was overdue. I called back and spoke to the office two more times explaining that it was never disclosed to me that any part of the visit was not part of the free consultation. The office manager and staff stubbornly refused to waive the fee and acknowledge the dishonest nature of the charge.
Among their excuses they mentioned that they had to pay the technician so I had to pay them. I'm quite sure $15 is a nominal amount for a practice like Duncan's. The office manager also said that she had spoken to the owner of the practice and he said the fee could not be waived. I truly doubt that a $15 fee was discussed with the owner.
I was insulted by the charge for the 'free' consultation, but I am sorely disappointed with their unprofessional and uncompromising office staff.
