I brought my dog in to see this vet because Abbi had some really bad bloating on each side of her stomach. She had collapsed and was not able to move; it seemed that she had run a marathon and was completely exhausted. Prior to this, my dog had never been sick a day in her 6 years of life. Abbi had always eaten the expensive, limited ingredient food, and was never overfed, so the bloating concerned me as much as the collapsing. This vet, took her temperature, took a heartworm test and did some bloodwork. The bloodwork came back and she was anemic. I was dismissed with a pamphlet on how to take care of an obese pet, along with some medicine that was pumped full of iron. Abbi was to take the liquid for a month then return for more bloodwork. An ultrasound was never done, after all, why do an ultrasound if your pet is just fat? During that month, Abbi had collapsed again. I told them about it and was again dismissed, saying that I had to give the medicine time to work. When the month was up, I brought her to another vet, and he immediately knew that the bloating was a very serious issue. An ultrasound was done on the spot. It turned out that Abbi had cancer. The bloating was turmors. Each time she collapsed, a tumor had burst, filling her stomach with blood. The vet at Antoine-Little York dropped the ball and it is time for her to retire. She absolutely would not listen when I told her that I do not overfeed my dog. Abbi died 1 month after her initial visit; that same visit when I was told she was just fat. If you want to see an excellent vet, go to Fairbanks Animal Clinic. They will listen to you; they will not dismiss you with pamphlets for the obese pet; they are compassionate and wonderful people. They are extremely knowledgeable and have decades of experience.

They made sure every single question I had was answered, and are always available if I think of any more questions I want answered. Their staff is the most friendly, welcoming staff I've ever dealt with. They are so warm and professional, and make the whole experience that much better. I was so impressed with all the staff there b/c it's obvious it's not JUST "a job" 4 ANY of them - u can tell they're ALL animal-LOVERS, not simply employees @ a vet's office! & their ee turnover rate has been non-existant, as far as we can tell, over the last 7-8 yrs since we discovered them!!! I also like it b/c its a small, individually owned clinic, as opposed to a chain animal clinic, so they all know us, but even MORE importantly, they know, & LOVE, our cats! We feel 100% comfortable boarding them (& only $10/day/cat!) when we go on holiday 4 a week or longer, & THAT....is saying a WHOLE LOT, 4 us, b/c we've had BAAADDDD experiences w/boarding our 2 beloved kiddies (smile) @ OTHER VETS. The office was very easy to locate-NO trouble @ ALL & very close to our neighborhood! + prices r BETTER THAN competition, even @ yucky chains, & they r open half days on Saturday's!! Oh, & PLUS, Dr. Korngy IS AN AGGIE........NOW.......NO 1, can beat all THAT.
