Avoid at all cost. They are unethical and illegal and the family court system does nothing about it. Reports are based on opinion only, they will not investigate anything. They will write lies or they will make up lies about you. How do I know because they did it to me. In the end after spending thousands and thousands of dollars I was able to get my Five Star Family Study report thrown out. AVOID !!!!

C Ana Marshall aka C Ava Marshall aka Five Star Family Studies is actually one person named Carolyn Ava Marshall. The description says 'Counselors' (plural), but she is the only licensed person who conducts all of the evaluations. There are many other reviews on the internet, and they are all negative, stating the same types of things that happened in my experience. A Delaware County Court judge ordered an evaluation with C Ava Marshall. Upon arriving at my home she very angrily accused me of lying to her saying that I gave her the wrong address, which I did not. She got lost. After that her obvious anger did not let up and escalated during the home visit. She acted very confused many times during the home visit and made odd comments about features in my home that were not at all as she stated. I realized that there was a really serious problem when she looked at my vacuum cleaner and said; "WHY DO YOU HAVE A LAWN MOWER IN THE HOUSE?". No joke, she actually said that to me. I believe that any reasonable person can easily see that she has her own issues. Yet she is in a powerful position to pass judgment on others through her opinions in her reports, that are not at all based on the true facts. She had a very angry and abrasive demeanor throughout the home visit. I had a pit in my stomach during and after the visit realizing that the future of my child lay in the hands of this woman. When she issued her report, I was shocked in reading it to see that it was filled with complete fabrications about everything from the condition of my house to an interaction between me and my child that did not happen. She even made a judgment about my financial condition, with no basis. I watched everything carefully and she only got up from the chair twice during the entire visit. She also stated that she made 15 pages of notes during the home visit. I saw with my own eyes that she made notes on the top page, and flipped it once to write a few sentences on the second. Not even close to the 15 pages claimed in her report. The report was complete fabrication and downright lies. I can only wonder from her behavior that the report content was a collection of her memories of other evaluations that she had done, and her own imagination. Because the report had very little to do with the true state of my home, or comments made about me or my child. If you are about to go to court on a custody matter, I strongly advise you to prepare your attorney to be ready to fight and object in every way possible to have another evaluator appointed to do your home study/evaluation. If Ms. Marshall does it, it is probably not going to turn out well, as with many others. From my observations, she is a very angry, bitter woman who has no qualms taking out her own issues on you in an evaluation. Leaving perfectly stable families in ruin. She is extremely biased, disingenuous, and unprofessional.
