Chiropractic has grown in popularity due to its high patient approval rating, effectiveness and safety. Spinal manipulation combined with physical therapy, which he renders, has been scientifically-proven to be the most effective low back pain therapy for conditions not requiring surgery. Chiropractic Neurology is an exclusive sub-specialty within chiropractic which treats - concussion, migraine, neck pain, low back pain AND neurologic disorders such as pain, tingling and numbness in the arms and legs, car accident, work-related and slip-and-fall injuries.
Dr. Saracino is a 1992 graduate of Logan College of Chiropractic's School of Post-doctoral Education in Clinical Neurology, a 1982 graduate of the National University of Health Science, the foremost institution of its kind in the world in Chiropractic. Chiropractic is the art and science of spinal manipulation coupled with the use of other natural methods to restore normal biomechanical joint motion, nerve function and blood circulation to restore health. It is the most sought after holistic health care profession. The federally regulated Council on Chiropractic Education establishes and enforces professional requirements. Additionally, national and state board examinations are required for licensing in each of the 50 states.
Dr. Saracino's broad background in athletics and the performing arts, both as a participant and coach, led to a strong interest in fitness training and exercise rehabilitation. Regardless of your physical activity, his knowledge of biomechanics can enhance your performance. Equally important, he seeks to improve the patient's understanding of flexibility and strength training. Many professional athletes and performers seek his counseling, along with recreational sports enthusiasts.
Finest Chiropractic Education Available
At the National University of Health Science, Dr. Saracino's alma mater, prior to graduation each doctoral candidate must complete a four-year premedical curriculum and five years of professional studies, including internship. National was the first chiropractic educational institution to: be regionally and chiropractic specific accredited; require a four-year prerequisite; have a five-year term; and the first of its kind to have an on-campus chiropractic hospital and publish a scientifically-indexed journal: The Journal of Manipulative and Physiologic Therapeutics.
Courses of Study
National was the first chiropractic college to obtain university status, require a bachelor’s degree for matriculates and have a five-year program which included internship. The education is essentially similar to medical school with an emphasis on the neuromusculoskeletal system for diagnosis and treatment. The basic sciences include: biological and anatomy, physiology, histology, biochemistry, clinical, radiological and imaging diagnosis. The clinical sciences include: pathology, orthopedics, neurology, nutrition, psychology, chiropractic specific diagnosis and treatment and extensive clinical training.
Comfortable manipulation tables, an exercise rehabilitation area with traction (inversion), free weight and cable resistance equipment, along with a stretching area and state-of-the-art physical therapy devices, an original McMannis flexion-distraction manipulation table (now known as spinal decompression and Cox Technique), are used for therapy. Standard medical diagnostic instruments are utilized in postural, biomechanical, orthopedic and neurological examinations. Often, other medical specialists such as orthopedists and neurologists, as well as imaging and lab facilities, are incorporated.
Dr. Saracino is an international guest lecturer and fitness magazine contributing writer to Muscle and Fitness - the most circulated magazine of its kind in the world and Lilipoh Magazines. A Brief Research Summary
The increasing interest by the medical community and general public and scientific evidence confirming its effectiveness has caught the attention of several health associations and government agencies. A 1993 study in the New England Journal of Medicine reported that, "The estimated number of visits made in 1990 to providers of unconventional therapy was greater than the number of visits to all primary care medical providers nationwide." Chiropractic was among the most frequently used non-medical therapy. Fibromyalgia is also treated.
