I have taken my dog to the Waugh Chapel Animal Hospital for 5 years, and I was quite pleased with the care we received for routine checkups. Unfortunately, the care was poor when my dog became ill.

On May 20th, we were told that my dog had pneumonia, hypothyroid, may have cardiac disease, X-rays were taken, and 3 types of meds were prescribed. We went back on the 29th for a follow-up because my dog's health had not improved. He was still vomiting and not eating. Another Dr. in the practice "speculated" that my dog did not have pneumonia or cardiac disease but had lymphoma. We were then told that my dog only had a short time to live and we should consider euthanizing him.

We were devastated, and after we agreed to a fine needle aspiration on the 31st we were told that a biopsy could not be done because the cytologist needed more cells. As a result, we would have to make a decision in 30 days to retest or we would miss out on a $70 discount. I refuse to subject my dog to further testing, poking, and prodding. We spent almost $1800 within 4 visits. The charges were outrages, and I will not allow my family to be taken advantage of during a health crisis. Once I took my dog off the meds he is doing much better. He is on the road to recovery, and I am extremely blessed to have him in my life.

If the docs were sincere about caring for God's four legged creatures, they would give you an itemized list of recommended treatment before running up a bill by keeping your pet "for observation" until the end of the day and making blanket statements about cancer without doing proper testing.

Beware of this hospital because things go down hill when your pet needs them most.

They would never suggest that I buy something that wasn't necessary, and never pressured me. They were always very considerate and professional. The staff here goes above and beyond to make my pet and me feel at home. They are the friendliest people! They really go above and beyond to make me feel special. I've never been anywhere that seems to care more about their clients than here. The kennels and holding area for pets were so clean and spotless, I would recommend them for sure if you need to leave your pet for a few days.
