Dr. Gerndt is a mental health professional specializing in sexual addiction. He uses a therapy model under the acronym S.T.O.P. which stands for Sexual Treatment Of Perpetrators. He also uses a series of polygraph exams to verify progress and truth telling.

The therapy that Dr. Gerndt provides may be appropriate and effective for certain individuals, ie, clients that are facing litigation for a sexual crime or are in rehabilitation after a conviction for a sex crime. However, I have no criminal background, nor am I the suspect of a criminal investigation. Despite this Dr. Gerndt has applied this same therapy model to me. Dr. Gerndt was not straight forward about this when I first came to see him. I discovered that I was in the STOP program after about 3 months of therapy. I am also in the process of getting a divorce and am trying to obtain equal custody of my children and Dr. Gerndt's treatment model has been detrimental to my case.
