A full service medical and surgical veterinary hospital with limited phone consultation emergency service for our clients. An extensive state-of-the-art laboratory prepared to do immediate analysis of medical samples. This is extremely important in diagnosing, treating and assessing follow-up care. Our highly trained medical team uses only the safest anesthetic regimens. We recommend preanesthetic testing in all patients undergoing surgical procedures. We recommend a mandatory pain management protocol in all surgical procedures to ensure our beloved patients are as comfortable as possible before, during and after their procedure. A modern surgical suite with fully computerized monitoring devices and special recovery ward, ensures the patient is maintained as close to a normal state as possible while undergoing any surgical procedure. Complete digital radiology services that give you results while you wait. Full service pharmacy to eliminate the need for a special trip to a local pharmacy. We offer an intensive care unit and isolation units to handle the critically ill patients. Examination rooms and a consultation room allow us to accommodate all of our patients as quickly and comfortably as possible. Separate dog and cat hospitalization wards offers the best chance of minimizing stresses that may delay the healing processes. Heated and Air Conditioned boarding facility for both our dogs and cats enjoying their vacation away from home. Grooming is available to pamper your pet(s). Doggie Day Care Obedience, Training and Agility are offered year round.
I vas very disappointed in the service level and implied expertise demonstrated by the Summerfield staff during the initial scheduling of a beak and toe nail trim. My poor experience at Summerfield is related to their expertise with larger birds (blue & gold macaw), because I'm sure this animal hospital is good enough with dogs and cats, no arguing there. T
Their supposed "best bird handler" toweled the Sinbad (normal procedure) then proceeded to squeeze the birds head so tightly the skin tore just below her right eye and was bleeding (very unprofessional). They trimmed "Sinbads" beak then brought the bird back to me to settle her down at which time I went through the roof seeing her sitting there bleeding. Sinbad has been my companion since 1996, and we are as close as a person can get to a bird, so her pain was mine too.
Then they decided they really didn't have the expertise to handle such a large bird, and the person that normally handles big birds was unavailable. So after them rescheduling me twice, providing abusive (barbaric) treatment, and wasted a scheduled visit, they backed out and turned Sinbad away saying they couldn't proceed because they were "uncomfortable" handling the bird. Sinbad is a very docile, sweet, and friendly to strangers type bird under normal circumstances. BOTTOM LINE: Big bird owners, avoid this place like the plague. Their attitude was condescending and borderline rude, and my attitude at that point was not so good either in retrospect. I have pictures of Sinbad's bleeding face that I wished I knew how to post here, so my words will suffice in this case. A Truly Awful Experience with Summerfields Animal Hospital. A one star rating is one too many.
I have been to this veterinarian for years. She has treated my dogs, cats and bird. She is compassionate and listens. The prices are reasonable. The facility is beautiful, smells nice and immaculate. I recommend her and this office to everyone I know.
