About
Kevin Shuler, DVM
We offer a full range of veterinary services. We strive to stay at the cutting edge of veterinary medicine. Below is a listing of our most asked-for services:
IMMUNIZATION AND WELLNESS CARE
We strive to prevent illness whenever possible. The time and effort invested in Wellness programs has rewards for both pets and owners. Our Wellness programs are designed specifically for your pet and include: Comprehensive physical exam, oral assessment, internal parasite testing, heartworm and flea control, vaccination program, spay and neuter package and specialized blood tests for all life stages. We perform risk assessments for each pet to help you decide which protocols your pet needs for optimum protection against disease and illness. There is no such thing as “one-size-fits-all medicine.”
DENTAL CARE
Regular professional cleaning is important to maintaining your pet’s teeth. Life expectancy has been shown to increase, 3-5 years, with routine dental cleaning. We use modern and safe ultrasonic and hand scaling to clean each tooth thoroughly, above and below the gum line. Dental technicians do a complete oral and neck exam, chart each tooth for any problems and then polish teeth to create a smooth, lustrous tooth surface more resistant to tartar buildup. A barrier sealant is also applied to the teeth and gums to help slow the reaccumulation of plaque and tartar. Digital dental radiography is also available to diagnose hidden problems. Dr. Laura Shuler performs advanced dental surgery for pets with these types of problems. We personalize dental health care to all your pets needs. We offer homecare dental supplies and recommend routine dental hygiene.
SURGERY
We offer general surgery, including spays, neuters, growth removals, hernia repairs, hematoma repairs and others. All patients are carefully screened for safety and anesthetics are specifically tailored to your pet. ECG and comprehensive blood testing is performed; oxygen saturation monitors are utilized and intensive post op surgery care is provided. We have a fully trained veterinary and technical staff to ensure the safest most efficient procedures for your pet.
ULTRASOUND
This non-invasive, state of the art technology uses sound waves to painlessly examine specific internal organs, primarily the heart and abdominal organs. Pregnancy exams are also available. We offer cardiac ultrasound, or echocardiogram. This is a growing tool to evaluate and monitor heart disease in our pets allowing them to live longer, happier lives.
RADIOLOGY
Radiology (X-ray) assists our veterinarians in evaluating musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, cardiopulmonary, gastrointestinal, reproductive and urinary systems. Our newest addition is digital dental radiography, which can diagnose hidden problems and guide our veterinarians toward the proper treatment of the problem.
EMERGENCY AND CRITICAL CARE
In any emergency, seconds count. Our experienced staff is equipped to administer the ABC’s of basic life support-Airway, Breathing and Circulation/Cardiac compressions. We offer expert supportive care with IV catheterization; heart monitoring and pain medication administration while the pet is being triaged. Emergency care is offered during regular business hours. For the most critical patients, we have a great working relationship with all of the veterinary specialists in the area. In addition, we use the services of the local, fully staffed veterinary emergency center for nighttime and weekend emergencies.
NUTRITIONAL COUNSELING
Some pets require special food, and all pets benefit from a balance diet. Our trained and “Fit-For-Life” Weight Management certified staff is available to help you choose the right Royal Canin USA veterinary diet to keep your pet happy, healthy and active. Pet nutrition has become so advanced, that there are even preventive diets provided by Royal Canin such as breed specific and Early Care diets. Ask us which food is right for your pet.
PAIN MANAGEMENT
Veterinary patients feel pain and discomfort under the same circumstances as people. We know that recognizing and alleviating pain in animals is the essence of good patient care. Whether it is surgical pain or chronic osteoarthritis pain, we can tailor a protocol to keep your pet happy and comfortable. We offer a multimodal approach to pain management through specialty diets, physical therapy, neutroceuticals and NSAID therapies.
MICROCHIPPING
Microchips have helped reunite thousands of pets with their families. We offer the most widely used microchip products to increase the chances of a safe recovery. Being in a hurricane prone area, microchipping can save your pet from homelessness should disaster strike!
REHABILITATION AND PHYSICAL THERAPY
Physical therapy and rehabilitation has long been known to speed and strengthen healing for people after injuries or surgery. Doesn’t it make sense to provide the same for our pets?
