The worst thing I could have done for my mother who is a 93 year old woman suffering from Dementia and Clinical depressiioin. The doctor that was put in charge of her care from United Hospice stopped her depression medicine without informing me and I watched my Mom rapidly decline in 3 weeks times. I didn't know what was wrong with her as she layed in her bed for 24 hours in a fetal position. The doctor then had his nurse call me to tell me she was depressed and suggested we put her on anti-depressants ! When I explained to her that I didnt know they had stopped them and asked to speak to the doctor, he didnt even have the decenty to call me back !! She also had an eye infection in both eyes for which I asked him to prescribe eye drops. After 7 days I noticed, her hospice nurse apparently didnt notice or didn't care, that her eye was getting worse. Come to find out he only prescribed an over the counter artificial tear drops and NOT an antibiotic. At which time, I removed her from hospice.
Since doing that, she is back under the care of her regular physician at the Senior Living facility she is in and is slowly on the road to recovery from the depression. Her eyes are completely healed since her old physician put her on an anti-biotic eye drop.
I will say, Rabbi Schlomo has been a caring and compassionate person who was the only one from United Hospice that GENUINELY CARED ABOUT MY MOM
If you care about your loved one, do not trust their care to United Hospice of Rockland County. I give them zero stars !!
The Joseph Raso House was the most fantastic facility I have ever been involved with. The caring was beyond my highest hopes. My family and I are indebted to United Hospice of Rockland for allowing our Mother to pass on pain free and with dignity.
