Not only do my appointments never get canceled last minute, they take time out of their day to send me a reminder so I don't forget. They are extremely reliable. I never have to worry about them overbooking appointments. They definitely believe in quality over quantity here and it is much appreciated. They definitely promised me a few things that they weren't able to fulfill. Most of what they said was accurate, but not all. They always have an immediate answer for me when I call with a question. They would never try to get me to make an appointment unless I really needed one. They were very qualified and knowledgeable. I could tell that they've been doing their job well for quite a while.

There were a few negatives. We needed help with smaller jobs also. They claim they do light housekeeping, etc. I asked them to bring in garbage cans from the curb, which they said they would do, but they never did. It is difficult for me to walk out there to do this. Also, some of the registered nurses were very "pushy" about how they wanted my husband's room to be while he was dying. He wanted to be in our bedroom. They wanted him out in the living room. They also acted like they owned the house and could just take over. I felt violated by this. Most of the nurses were fine, but they have a few bad ones.

After my husband died, the word spread around town (via hospice) that my daughter's reaction to my husband's death was "abnormal" as she kissed him many times after he passed. We traced this rumor back to the hospice nurse. Nothing is confidential in a small town. Is there something wrong with kissing her father? Were they implying that there were inproprieties? She was just always a "daddy's girl" and loved her father dearly. There is nothing abnormal about that.

After you go through hospice once, it makes you wonder about whether you would use it again. In-home hospice can be wonderful with the right providers, but I would never use hospital hospice. They just keep feeding the patient morphine until his breathing stops. They claim they do not do that, but they do. My neighbor is a nurse, and she told me that this is done. Home hospice is fine, but think twice about hospital hospice.
