I am the first professional acupuncturist to be practicing in Iowa continuously since 1992.

I am experienced in treating pain, women's health, allergies, fibromyalgia, infertility, and many other problems.

I am from a family of medical practitioners, and am a native of Iowa City.

I have 8 years experience as a researcher in medicine, and 6 years experience working as a mental health counselor. I enjoy cooking, gardening, music, photography, sewing, training my two dogs, and studying Asian medicine.

Certification Board Certified in Acupuncture by the NCCAOM. This is the Dipl.Ac. designation. Also certified in Chinese Herbology by the Institute of Traditional Chinese Herbology in Oakland, CA, and certified in Japanese Acupuncture by the Japanese American Acupuncture Foundation and Dr Miki Shima OMD.

I love Acupuncture of Iowa. I highly recommend seeking treatment there. The staff is extremely professional and friendly. The treatments are painless and have fixed many issues for me. I continue to go there for maintenance; as life has presented me with other problems such as sciatica, fibromyalgia, migraines and side effects from chemo. Laura Christensen is extremely knowledgeable about Chinese herbs and supplements. She cares about my overall health and has referred me to other professionals, if she thought medical intervention was necessary. She is fair, honest and professional. I know I will get superb care there and that is why I continue to go back. The atmosphere is relaxing. Laura spends more time than most acupuncturists on each patient and she really listens to your problems and concerns. If you have never tried acupuncture before, the experience at Acupuncture of Iowa will make you a believer. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT !!!

The waiting area here is extremely spacious and attractive. There is beautiful photography and decor with live plants. I couldn't believe how easy it was to find the office! I appreciated not having to drive around for an hour searching for it!

The clinic looked clean and well-maintained. It was very obvious that they took pride in the appearance.

The staff were wonderful and very professional. They answered my questions and handled everything smoothly.

My acupuncture treatment there was very thorough. I could not believe how much time she took with me compared to other acupuncture places I have been. I really trust her experience and wisdom.

I would recommend this place to anyone. If they can't help you with acupuncture, they will make suggestions as to other things that might help and they go the distance for you.
