A family member went to this facility for rehab after back surgery. The staples in her back hit on the chair that was provided and it took 4 days to get one that would work. The patient had to lay in bed because they couldn't sit. Each day a chair was promised "tomorrow". The patient also had to have insulin injections for the first time in their life. The nurse just came and tested and injected with no explaination. She was also complaing that her hip bone hurt. When she finally got a little upset with no chair and thinking that she was now diabetic and having this unexplained hip pain, which was from the bone that they removed from her hip, they said she was too emotional and sedated her! She is a tough lady and would have done well if someone took a few minutes to explain what was going on.
We were surprised at the lack of keeping her informed of her own treatment. Her husband was in the facility for end of life care a year before, and the care was wonderful. We had no complaints and the staff went above and beyond. The nurse manager did apologize when I complained on a phone call meeting on how she was doing.
