This Hospital almost killed me. Went in to ER with facial cellulitis and was admitted. The ER was okay, but once upstairs the nightmare began. The nurses had standing orders for morphine and dilaudid for pain management (not asked for). When the swelling continued, i asked for ibuprofen and they said they had to contact the Doctor for that. Fine. 24 hours and 2 nurses later no word so they gave me IV painkillers along with antibiotics where i stayed in a comatose state for 3 days. The swelling was down and the Doctor signed discharge papers. Within 1 hour off IV medication my face started swelling fast. Worse than when i came to the ER and the pain incredible. They still wanted to discharge without a doctor looking at me. I lay there for 18 hours in pain and my face still swelling with my family outraged while they did nothing. NO COMPASSION. They said the swelling was normal and to follow up in 2 WEEKS! Never seen again by a doctor after initial discharge. My family took me to North Kansas City Hospital where i was sent strait to the floor where i stayed for 7 MORE DAYS on IV antibiotics. My Doctor said if i had followed their discharge instructions i would be dead. This is all documented. If it were not for NKC Hospital i would be dead. Enter at your own risk!
