Dr. Keene is an amazing doctor. I had a high risk pregnancy, and she was so knowledgeable about what I should expect. She was extremely caring. I felt so safe with her as my obstetrician.
I visited Dr. Keene with my first pregnancy and my husband and I were both very excited. She showed no emotion at our 10 week appt but said our dates must be off because the ultrasound showed little development and no heart beat. She offered to schedule me for another appt in 4 weeks! I had to insist to be seen sooner because I was sure of my dates and felt something was wrong. She was very stoic again during the next appt and said the baby never developed, no heartbeat, and it should naturally pass soon. To make a long story short the baby never naturally passed. My body retained it for seven months! During all this time I kept going back to Dr Keene - weekly and she would always say it was going to pass anytime and that she had never seen one go this long but it wasn't anything to be concerned about. I felt terrible - gaining weight (not the full belly but overall weight gain) and just the emotion of carrying around a dead baby for months was getting to me) but she kept dismissing me saying it would happen any day. I asked her about the possibility of a molar pregnancy and she dismissed it and even laughed that I thought somehting may be wrong. Finally at 7 months I insisted on having it removed surgically or going to someone who was willing to. She finally agreed, did the surgery and we found out it was an invasive molar pregnancy that I had to have chemo for! This entire ordeal was very difficult emotionally and she never once expressed concern or care, just remained matter or fact. I am shocked she refused to act any sooned but very glad we insisted on action. I would never recommend going to Dr Keene, not just because of my personal experience, but because of the gruff, impersonal way she treats her patients.
