After many attempts to contact the staff here, I have determined they have some major issues with communication. I have never had my phone call returned on the day I make it. I have been told I was on a "call" list and then never called. I have called multiple days in a row only to be told I was never called back because there was no record of me calling. Once I called to have a prescription called in that they forgot to call in when I was there, and it took three days to get in touch with a nurse! Additionally, the doctor is rude. He has what my husband calls "the bedside manner of a cactus." He does not so much speak to you as just looks at your symptoms on the computer and talks to other doctors and his little voice recorder ABOUT your symptoms. He did not answer my questions well and seemed to have little concern about me. The wait time is atrocious! On my last visit, I waited in a freezing room for two hours before seeing the doctor. I had to come back the following day to get blood drawn because I was there so late, the lab guy had already left for the day. And then when I returned for the blood draw, they had no idea why I was there and questioned me like I was in the wrong... the woman up front also left the little privacy window open as she talked about my condition to the people in the office and then spoke to me at least 12 feet away in the waiting room about why I was there even though there were other people there waiting. Very unprofessional. I will be switching doctors ASAP.
I may change my mind after being seen again, but so far, I have not been pleased with Mid State Gastroenterology. I visited their Smyrna office which is only open a couple of hours one day a week. The nurse was nice enough...although she didn't seem to feel the need to put me at ease about my symptoms. When I had my blood drawn afterwards, the man in the lab and the woman making the appointments were almost too busy chatting with each other to bother to give me information I needed about my upcoming procedure. Although the nurse told me I would have my procedure done within a week or two, it was hastily scheduled for almost a month later. My return visit, which I was told would be a week afterwards, was scheduled for two full weeks after that. I had to return to the office after I left to get more information they didn't give me before leaving. Additionally, I have had to reschedule my procedure, and although I called early in the day, my phone call was not returned for more than 24 hours, despite my calling back to make sure my call had not been forgotten (they told me my call would be returned that afternoon but it was not). Again, after having several labs done, I called to get the results only to hear another, "you should be receiving a call from a nurse this afternoon." And guess what? No call then either. Next time I need a gastroenterologist, I'm going elsewhere.
