Dr. Wilinski misdiagnosed me with schizoaffective disorder, bipolar type in the early 2000’s after originally diagnosing me with major depression in 1996. I had numerous ECT treatments and I was put on heavy antipsychotics, including Thorazine (which he allowed me to drive while taking). Medications Dr. Wilinski prescribed to me were constantly changed and dosages were constantly increased. I was always treatment resistant. He was late to many appointments. I missed one appointment in ten years and he charged me $180.00. I was very sick at the time. His manner was condescending and intimidating. He told me I would always have to be on psych meds, I would never be able to work and I could never live independently. I left his practice around 2006. Last year (2023) I was diagnosed with BPD and C-PTSD. I am off all psych meds and I have been successfully living independently for the last four years. It is my belief that the psych meds he prescribed gave me the psychotic symptoms I experienced. Dr Wilinski only gave me medication and ECT, he didn’t listen to me. He took away my hope, which perpetuated decades of unnecessary emotional anguish. Thankfully, after many years, I was correctly diagnosed.
