Dr. Hellems is truly compassionate and patient with his patients. He takes the time and answers all questions and concerns. I would highly recommend him esp for older folks and folks with multiple Heath issues. Also, it's nice to have a doctor who makes hospital visits and oversees the care to ensure the best care possible!

I have been going to this doctor for several years. The office is spacious, well run, and peaceful.
However, I do have concerns about one of the physicians. He does not seem to remember my issues from one visit to the next. The main concern that I brought forward one visit didn't seem to be recorded. When I followed up a few months later, he acted like it was the first time he heard about the issue. Isn't this stuff recorded in the notes and reviewed before opening the door to the exam room?
I had a weight loss of about 10 lbs, which he congratulated me on and then wanted to fist bump me. (Really? I'm a 50+ yr. old woman. Don't fist bump me; it's immature.) He should have asked if I was trying to loose the weight, because the weight loss was part of the concern I have. In the midst of the confusion about him not remembering the main concern and that this was a follow-up visit, I forgot to mention the weight loss was part of the problem.
I know I'm one of 10-15 patients in their day, but they are THE only doctor I see every 2-6 months about a health issue that affects me on a daily basis. This is my life and well-being we're talking about. PLEASE, get it right!
