I called asking for a simple exam for my four-year old in order to meet preschool requirements. They told me that they could not properly fill out the paperwork for the school unless I got an x-ray, an exam, and a cleaning. They said that was what preschool requires. So, I called my son's school and asked them if this was true. They said no, that all I needed was an exam. I called the dentist back and was told that the dentist would not do an exam without an x-ray. I said okay and asked how much those two procedures were and then she explained that the dentist would not do those two procedures without the cleaning. Basically, I had to get everything done, even though it was not what I needed and was three times as expensive as what I needed. I called two other pediatric dentists after that and both of them told me that they would never do an x-ray on a four-year old, that he is too young. It seems obvious to me that this dentist does not have the patient's welfare at heart but is most concerned with profit and has no qualms with requiring services that are not only unnecessary but also not recommended for small children.
