I'll start by saying I was an assistant to an endodontist for 8yrs and no stranger to dental issues. I have had root canal without lidocaine and always had a high tolerance for pain. I'm also a cancer survivor, and had been on the "red devil" of chemo.
My tooth issue started many years ago when my back molar broke, but lack of finances and insurance led me to sit on it. I was very fortunate it didn't cause me pain. Until a few weeks ago. My dental office referred me to Dr Gollehon and assured that they would be the better option to remove my very broken, rotted tooth.
On my initial consult, the front desk was friendly, personable and so were a couple of other associates. As for Dr Gollehon, all I can say is my interaction with him was literally less than 5 minutes combined for both visits. First visit, he came in looked at the x-ray, stated it will be easy, advised me to take antibiotics to help infection and see you next week.
On the second visit, day of oral surgery, he came in, numbed me, left and gave it about 10 min. for anesthesia to do its job. He came back jammed a drill into my tooth, had it out in literally less than 2 minute, and I was in complete shock it went so quick. Being numb, I was very happy the ordeal was over. I gathered my things, the extra gauze and after care instruction sheet, and had to ask where to go meet my husband who was told to pull around the pick up area. No one even cared enough after to direct me from the room.
Once the anesthesia started wearing off, there was considerable pain. To be expected. I took great care to follow instructions, and after 3 days of consistent pain, called the office. I stated that the area was throbbing, there was definitely bony fragment sticking out of my gum causing pain. I was told that a nurse would contact me. When she called back 4 hours later, she stated that pain is normal, continue taking Tylenol with ibuprofen and that should help. I expressed concern that the fragment will cause an infection and she said it wasn't likely. Her dismissiveness and lack of compassion made me fully understand why some people are hesitant to see any dental professional, if this is what the level of care has come to.
It is now a week later, the area of where the bony fragments are, is definitely throbbing. Still.
I paid out of pocket, (very expensive, still no dental insurance), and would rather suffer than ever go back to an office that runs on a just business level of "care".
Very disappointed.

They turned a scary procedure into a virtually painless one. The entire staff is so kind and truly cares about you as a individual not another deposit in their bank account. I drove from Colfax just to have a tooth extracted. I also had my children have their wisdom teeth removed with them.. hands down best around!!!!
