He was very abrupt. When my labor stalled instead of breaking my water he went straight to talking about a c section. He was not natural childbirth friendly. I couldn't stay in control and in the zone because I was made to get up, lie down etc every 20 minutes and stay on the monitors for 20 minutes at a time during my labor. I was only allowed in the water for 20 minutes. It was constant interruptions and no reassurance or help. I felt alone and my husband felt helpless. Nothing about our birth plan panned out or was followed during labor, at least, not much. I even stated no students were to touch me. What happened? He let an inexperienced person/student (not quite sure) cut on me during my c section and didn't even CARE that we heard him say NO what are you doing? Sloppy, your tearing her... Seriously? The half star was because the incision was beautifully done, clean lines and healed well scar wise. (Except the side the woman did which is thicker and much more noticeable.. Thanks) his side healed so well you can barely even see a scar. Now for after care. I was seeing the midwife before my labor and after. I was supposed to be getting better pain wise but there was this horrible burning sensation that wouldn't go away. (Nerves damaged, unavoidable really.) my issue isn't with the skills. It's with jumping the gun, not using safer options while you still can, being impatient with the laboring process, interrupting labor so frequently the person is MISERABLE on top of everything else. Lastly, not taking me seriously about the burning sensation and trying to force me to just take ibuprofen when I couldn't even WALK upright for more than five minutes. I ended up in the ER bawling and asking WHY ISNT ANYONE TAKING CARE OF ME!? Before he would extend my pain meds with the stipulation that I had to have a dr appt with him for a follow up. I ended up only needing the medication another 3-4 days and was able to deal with the pain on a few ibuprofen after that. He acted more like I was trying to insinuate his work was subpar and like I was a drug seeker than the fact that it was fully possible to have nerves freaking out after a major surgery.

Just FYI I was only in the hospital laboring for about 5-6 hours TOTAL before I had my c section around 3pm. So I went from laboring great, progressing well to stalling for a couple hours( which led to the first c section comment) to dilating "only" a 1/2 in an hour ( sprinkled with let's wait such and such time then discuss a section possibility) to finally giving in to the epidural so I could sit and be LEFT ALONE on their monitors, which then led to my sons heart dipping because he wanted to give me pitocin (I REALLY shouldn't have let him) and my son couldn't tolerate the stronger contractions. In the end I feel like his decisions and his lack of willingness to try everything before resorting to pit or c section was a huge factor in how my sons birth played out. Would I have had a c section anyways? I don't know. But if I was supported, all the options were tried and people had actually had a discussion with me in depth... I think it would have been much less likely. There was so little communication that for all I know there were a million other factors leading up to my c section but the correlation between epidural and pitocin to my sons heart rate dipping cannot be ignored.

They made sure every single question I had was answered, and are always available if I think of any more questions I want answered. Their staff is the most friendly, welcoming staff I've ever dealt with. They are so warm and professional, and make the whole experience that much better. I was so impressed with the progress I was able to make after visiting them. All my questions were answered, and I feel a lot more confident and hopeful about the future. The office was very easy to locate. I didn't have any trouble finding it at all. I will absolutely return. I had an amazing experience, and they were by far the best I've ever seen. Not only is the office a wonderful place but Dr Wynstra was my doctor when I pregnant with my son and he always had a feeling that i would have him early, when I didnt he began to worry and when my due date came and gone he induced me. After 8 and a half hours of horrible labor my sons heart rate dropped after 5 mins it came back to normal. He said it could have been just my son lying on his cord, or it could be something else which he thought it was and that it was time for my son to be delivered, NOW! I was rushed back to a C section the whole time he asured me everything was going to be ok and he promised me that he would make sure my son was safe. After surgery I got told that my sons cord was to short is was only about 6 inches long. If Dr Wynstra would have made the call to get my son out it could have killed us both. I talked to several other Dr's and they said with it being just the first time the heart rate dropping they wouldnt have made that call. So I will never go to anyone other than him for my future family. I can say he wants just the best for his patients and he keeps his promises. Thank you Dr Wynstra!!
